About:

Everything was on display during this exhibition in Kaptiaal: from imaginative prints, newspaper and books. You could participate in various workshops. And you could also join talks about the professional illustration field organised by: De Potloodcast.

It was a great success: more than 200 visitors spread over the afternoon and evening took part in the workshops and interesting conversations. A beautiful place where students, illustrators and other creative people came together in Kapitaal Utrecht.

I designed this poster together with my classmate Zoë de Beus. We discussed different methods to use in designing this poster. We held different sketch sessions with the design team to come up with a shape and four different collage’s for the poster that would be the base and lay-out. We choose Zoë “2” as it would be a good match for the poster as the second layer. The plan was to screen-print this poster for the event. We made different designs with digital typography such as Helvetica Neue but the poster came off very lifeless. So I came up with the idea to hand letter the typography and scan it in. We written copyright text many different ways and I combined the best letters in the poster. After that the poster was screen-printed on paper. And plastered around the school.

It was a great exorcize working together on this project.

This event was sponsored by vandeStreek Beer a local beer brewery in Utrecht. The owner of the brewery is friends with the owner of Kapitaal. The owner of Kapitaal asked vandeStreek if they would sponsor this event. And they said “yes” so the opportunity came to design a custom beer label that would be wrapped around the can for this event. I took the leading in this project and designed the label in the same identity. I also designed one of the four collage’s. The other collages where designed by other classmates. After I finished the complete design we send the files to vandeStreek. They where very excited to work with us.
